Brantley Center will hold its 35th annual golf tournament on Sunday, April 28, at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course. Check-in is at 6:30 a.m. with a shot-gun start at 7:15 a.m.

The tournament will use a two-person best ball modified format. Entry fee is $125 per golfer and includes green fees, three mulligans, lucky number prizes and lunch.

All early entries will be eligible for an early entry drawing. Golfers also have a chance to win $15,000 in prize money for a hole-in-one. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.thebrantleycenter.org.

Golfers must register by April 26 to be eligible for the early entry drawing.

Hawaii Island Hoops camp in June

Hawaii Island Hoops will hold a College-Prep Basketball Camp from June 3-7 at Kekuaokalani Gym in Kailua-Kona.

The camp is open to boys ages 13-19 who are looking to improve their skills and learn a college-style program. The cost of the five-day camp is $350 and “includes top-notch college coach/player instruction from the NCAA, NAIA and JUCO level, evening college-prep seminars on academic requirements, financial aid and athletic recruitment,” according to a release.

KBXtreme to host PBA tournament

Approximately 40 professional bowlers will come to the Big Island for the PBA West/Northwest Kona Open Regional Bowling Tournament, which will take place April 22-23 at KBXtreme.

Some of the pros expected to attend include Norm Duke, Rhino Page, Scott Norton, Josh Blanchard, Missy Parkin, Michael Fagan, Tommy Jones, Steve Smith and Tom Hess.

The event also includes a pro-am in which amateurs can compete with the professionals. KBXtreme is seeking sponsors to ensure a successful tournament.

82-year-old fires 77 at Hilo Muni

Sus Shigemasa, age 82, shot a 77 while playing with Wrecker’s Golf Club in March at Hilo Municipal Golf Course.

Witnessing Shigemasa’s round were Greg Stuart, Gilbert Dakujaku, Blackie Kitagawa, Lane Shibata and Arnie Asato.
